Prepare for the Job
This is the first step in the pathway – and critical. Why? Because many disadvantaged adults lack the basic skills to even enter the job market – from filling out an application to dressing appropriately or communicating effectively.
We provide two-week and four-week Job Readiness Workshops – tailored to the specific needs of people transitioning off welfare or who have a criminal record.
What is taught in our Job Readiness workshops?
- communication and behavioral “soft skills” for success in the workplace
- “life skills” including life-work balance, financial literacy and accessing community resources
- effective interviewing skills, practiced in mock interviews
- how to complete a resume, fill out a job application, use job search resources including internet access
- confidence and self-esteem needed to pursue and persevere in the job search
