Computer Lab Assistant – Assist program participants in the computer lab with developing resumes, cover letters, thank-you letters, registering e-mail accounts, online job searching, and completing online job applications. Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Windows 98 and up, and have the ability to work with individuals with various levels of computer experience, from beginners to advanced users.
Speakers Bureau -- We welcome individuals and representatives from community agencies to speak to our program participants on topics related to job preparedness and resources that may be available to them. Such topics could include, but are not limited to, finance and budgeting, nutrition, voter registration, childcare, mental health care, alcohol and drug abuse, and prevention of domestic violence.
Alumni -- Program graduates who have successfully made the transition to permanent full-time employment can be excellent role models and superb motivators, particularly for reluctant participants. Alumni talk about their own personal experiences, including their experience in the workplace, how their employment has impacted their personal lives, problems they encountered and resolved, and other situations they want to share.
Mock interviewing -- Volunteers are needed to conduct mock interviews with our program participants. Mock interviews are a critical part of an individual’s preparation for the actual job search process. It takes about two hours, although we can be flexible to meet scheduling limitations. Practice questions can be made available ahead of time, if desired. Parking is provided.
