Jill discussed the benefits of "Ban the Box" - removing the felony conviction checkbox from job applications. As she wrote in The Plain Dealer:

We applaud Mayor Frank Jackson and the city of Cleveland for removing the felony-conviction checkbox from job applications (Plain Dealer, Friday). The mayor's policy offers an appropriate balance between an employer's need to screen and an individual's opportunity to compete for jobs.
