ACHIEVE is our innovative worksite-based job retention program in partnership with employers.
With our customized services, employers can improve retention, reduce absenteeism and develop employees who are building skills for advancement up a career ladder.
WHY do it?
In many job sectors, turnover for entry-level employees is remarkably high – and costly to employers. Studies show that the cost of turnover for one entry-level position is $3,500 - $6,000, including recruitment, training and lost productivity.
HOW does it work?
We go to the employer’s location and create a program custom-tailored to the company’s needs – often in conjunction with existing in-house programs. ACHIEVE is recognized as a national model for decreasing high turnover in low-wage jobs.
HOW does it help employees?
Employees in low-wage, entry-level jobs see their quality of life improve – with a steady job and the opportunity to advance. ACHIEVE removes barriers to successful long-term employment – by teaching life and work skills including communication, teamwork and time management as well as financial literacy and how to access community resources.
ACHIEVE provides employees with:
- individual and group sessions on adjusting to a new job and work-life balance issues (a common cause of absenteeism and turnover)
- supportive services such as child care, credit counseling, GED program start-up and legal services
- training for supervisors to improve communication and reduce conflict with entry-level employees (a common reason for leaving a job)
HOW does it help employers?
Employers achieve their goals of reduced turnover – along with better morale and performance. Since ACHIEVE is right on-site with intensive services, the employer is proactive, rather than reactive. We create a unique partnership in the workplace, giving employers regular contact with ACHIEVE staff.
ACHIEVE creates custom-made programs, such as a New Hire Group to reduce turnover during first 90 days on job… or a “career ladder” program at long-term care facilities to help nurses’ aides towards LPN position.
